The LEO Foundation has long demonstrated its commitment to nurturing the next generation of investigators. In 2008, the Foundation established two awards: one Gold Award of 1,000,000 DKK (approximately $143k USD), and one Silver Award of 500,000 DKK (approximately $71.5k USD) given to talented and committed young researchers in recognition of their exceptional contribution to science.
The Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) and The LEO Foundation are pleased to announce a partnership for the IID 2018 Meeting in which a Gold and Silver Award will be presented. The IID 2018 Meeting is a joint Meeting of the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR), Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology (JSID), and the SID. This meeting hopes to attract 2,500 – 3,000 attendees in Orlando, Florida, May 16-19, 2018.
For those wishing to apply, you can access the required forms for the awards via the SID website. The deadline for applications is January 10, 2018.
A Selection Committee will be tasked to review the applications and finalize a short list of potential awardees. That slate of finalists will be shared with the LEO  Foundation Award Committee who will name both the Gold and Silver Awardees. One recipient for each Award will be selected from among the applicants from the three Societies.
If awarded, the prize can be used for one or more projects within the recipient’s area of research and at the awardee’s discretion. The awardee shall account for the spending of the money to the LEO  Foundation and the SID.
The awards will be presented in Orlando on Wednesday, May 16 at the IID 2018 Meeting where each recipient will be asked to deliver a presentation based on their work. The award winners will be required to attend the LEO Foundation Awards Ceremony/Dinner later that evening.
